That one customer who told me my seams were showing changed everything
About 2 months ago I did a job for a lady in Oak Grove who pointed out every single seam in her living room. I was so sure I had them tight but she showed me how light hit them from her window. Now I tape a seam iron to my belt and run every seam twice with a roller. Has anyone else had a client teach them something they missed in years of work?

Oh man, I had a client years ago who pointed out that my final pass with the vacuum always left tracks on the carpet. I was just rushing to finish and never noticed until she showed me how it looked in the afternoon sunlight. Now I always do one last slow pass from the doorway toward the room to blend everything together and it made a huge difference.

That slow pass trick works great but you gotta watch the direction of the nap on the carpet. Going from the doorway inward can actually lay the pile against the light and make tracks look worse depending on the fiber type and how the sun hits it. I learned that the hard way when a builder pointed out my vacuum lines looked like a runway. Might be worth trying a side-to-side pattern instead of straight in and out so it blends better. Have you noticed a difference depending on what kind of carpet you're working on?

Try flipping your pattern based on room shape, not just door direction. Those looped Berbers are brutal too, they pick up every angle mistake even worse than plush carpets. Stick with perpendicular passes to the window and you'll dodge that whole sunlight disaster.
