Does anyone else use a knee kicker on stairs or is that just me? Took 3 hours on one landing

I had a job last Tuesday in a split level in Columbus, Ohio. Stairs and one landing, maybe 12 steps total. I figured I'd have it done by noon. Three hours later I was still fighting the landing. I keep seeing these new power stretcher attachments for stairs and I wonder if I'm just old fashioned. I learned the knee kicker method from my dad and it works, but it punishes your knees and takes forever on tight corners. Is the extra gear worth it for you folks or do you stick with the old way? What's your time on a standard 12 step staircase with a landing?

Saturday I spent 45 minutes on a tiny landing with three corners in a ranch in Dayton, and I was ready to chuck the kicker. I always figured the roller and shims were for rookies, but honestly, that method makes more sense now. My knees are still sore today, and I'm rethinking my whole setup.

Skip the extra gear, save your knees with a cheap stair roller and a few shims instead.
