The salary range on a job posting made me redo my whole approach

Saw a posting last Tuesday for a project coordinator role in Austin that listed $58k to $72k. I thought I knew my worth from Glassdoor, but this was way higher than what I was aiming for. I spent 3 hours rewriting my resume to match their language and tailored my cover letter to those exact numbers. Turns out they actually asked me my expectation in the first interview, and I said $68k because of that range. Has anyone else found that published ranges totally reset what you think is fair pay?
