I realized I was over-explaining everything in meetings after my boss in Tacoma said 'just the headline, please' for the third time.

That simple phrase made me see I was burying my main point under a pile of extra details (which, honestly, I thought made me sound more prepared).

Yeah, it's a trust thing sometimes. I realized I'd add details because I was worried people wouldn't believe my conclusion without seeing all my work.

Totally get that. It's like you have to show your whole process just to be taken seriously, which is exhausting. I've caught myself over-explaining basic points because I felt my authority was being questioned. That constant need to prove your worth just to participate is a real drain.
