PSA: That whole week the internet went after the local bakery over a 2019 tweet
Last month a bakery two towns over got torn apart online over a joke tweet from 2019, and by Wednesday they had lost 3 wedding orders and the owner was crying on a Facebook live. I know the person who wrote the tweet, she was 19 at the time and it was a dumb line about pineapple pizza, not even political. By Friday a bigger account dug up the receipts, showed it was nothing, and half the people who piled on quietly deleted their comments. The whole thing lasted 9 days and the bakery still lost real money. How do you tell when a pile-on is actually about something versus just a slow news week? I want to hear from people who run small shops, did any of you get through one of these with your name intact?
