A mod on a woodworking forum deleted my "grit shaming" comment and told me it was gatekeeping, so I stopped telling new guys their 80 grit was wrong
He said the hobby needed more people, not fewer, and honestly he was right about the gatekeeping part. Now I just ask what they are building first. Is there any other hobby where the old guard chases off beginners like this?
