That $90 hot shoe adapter I bought on a whim fixed a weird lens mount issue

I picked up a cheap third party hot shoe adapter off eBay for a Canon body that had a bent shoe, cost about 90 bucks with shipping. Took a chance on it since the factory part was backordered for two months, and it actually seated perfectly, no wobble at all. Has anyone else used these generic adapters for bent shoe repairs, or am I just lucky?
