Trying to track sleep with a habit tracker was a total disaster, monthly log did the trick
For about 6 months I used the daily habit tracker boxes for sleep. I marked yes or no if I got 7 hours. But I kept missing boxes, forgetting to fill them in before work, and then lying to myself about it. Last month I switched to just writing my actual bedtime in my monthly log margin. Small numbers, no color coding. It's way easier, I can see patterns at a glance, and I stopped faking my data. Has anyone else found that daily checkboxes make tracking too complicated?
The checkbox thing fails because sleep is not a yes or no thing, it's a number that moves around. Marking a box tells you nothing about whether you went to bed at 10 or 1am, so you lose the info that actually matters. Writing the time down keeps the mess real, and real data is the only kind you can do anything with.
