My aunt's 3 ingredient chili trick actually held up this winter
My aunt swore by canned beans, canned tomatoes, and a packet of chili seasoning for years and I always laughed at it, but I tried it during a snowstorm in Buffalo last January and it fed us for 3 nights on like $8 total. Has anyone else found a "too simple" recipe that just works better than the fancy stuff?

Ngl, seeing a can of beans and a seasoning packet do the job this well was humbling. I spent years buying all these fresh spices and slow cooking everything, then my buddy pulled out the same trick during a power outage and it honestly hit the spot. There's something about the simplicity that just works when you're tired, cold, and hungry. I still make the fancy version sometimes, but now I keep a few of those packets in the back of the pantry for the rough nights. Funny how the lowest effort meals sometimes end up being the ones you actually make again and again.
