Appreciation post: a bag of lentils at my Food Lion in Charlotte feeds me 6 dinners for $1.89
I always skipped the dried beans aisle because it looked like too much work, but last Tuesday I actually read the price tag and did the math. A one pound bag was $1.89 and the label says it makes about 10 servings, which works out to under 20 cents a plate once I add rice and an onion. I made a big pot with garlic and cumin and ate it over rice four nights in a row and it never got old. What am I missing in the bean aisle, and does anyone have a cheap way to make them taste less... beany?
