Unpopular opinion: ikea furniture instructions are a conspiracy to test your patience

I tried to build this simple 3-drawer nightstand last Tuesday, and it took me four hours because the diagram showed a screw going in at a weird angle that made zero sense. Turns out the picture was for the bigger version of the same dresser, and they just reused the layout. I had to take apart the whole side panel twice before I noticed the tiny print on page 7. My cat sat on the instruction sheet the entire time, which did not help, but honestly it was the diagram that was lying. Has anyone else wasted a full afternoon on something that should take 30 minutes because the manual was clearly copied from another product?
