The foreman's 6 AM advice about grout mixing was right after all
My foreman on a tile crew in Cleveland told me last month to mix my thinset for exactly 5 minutes, not 3. I thought he was just being picky, so I kept doing my usual 3 and slap it down fast. Then we had a backsplash in a condo that started sliding after 2 hours. He made me remix a batch his way, timing it with his phone. It held perfect, and now I set a timer on my own. Has anyone else been burned by skipping the mixing time on a quick job?
