Showerthought: my old boss in Akron said never round the spine corners, and I just did 40 of them

Pete ran the bindery there for 22 years and always said squared corners hold up better in the long run, no exceptions. But a customer last week wanted that soft rounded look on a run of 40 journals, so I tried it and honestly the rounded ones feel nicer in the hand. I keep going back and forth on it. Anyone here work both ways and have a real opinion on which actually lasts longer?
