Had a week where every single book spine I glued came out perfect

Last Tuesday I was working on a batch of 12 journals for a local shop downtown, and for some reason everything just clicked. The glue was the right temp, the joints were straight, the cloth wrapped around without a single wrinkle. I kept waiting for something to go wrong, but it never did. Finished all 12 by Thursday afternoon with zero re-dos. Does that ever happen to you, or is my shop just haunted by a helpful ghost?

Ghosts don't usually help with glue temperature, that's more of a thermocouple issue. Perfect days happen when everything lines up, humidity, glue viscosity, and your own muscle memory all hitting the same note at once. Enjoy it while it lasts, next week will probably be a fight with some misbehaving endpapers.

Respectfully disagree @the_simon, sometimes you just get lucky and need to ride that wave.

Man I feel this so hard. You nailed it with the muscle memory part, that's really what makes or breaks a day for me. When my hands just know what to do without me thinking about it, everything flows better. But you're right about next week, it's always something, either the humidity spikes or the glue decides to act up for no reason. That's just how this craft works, you get a good day and you take it.
