Dropped $70 on a bone folder that turned out to be plastic with a wood grain sticker
Saw it at a flea market in Boise last month and the seller swore it was real rosewood, but it snapped on my second signature. My $8 Teflon one from the craft store has lasted 3 years, so save your money and skip anything that feels too light. Has anyone else gotten burned by a fancy tool that turned out to be junk?
Did the seller have a whole table of "rosewood" tools that all felt weirdly identical in weight? Flea markets are great at moving fake stuff because you never see the guy again. Real rosewood actually has some heft and grain that runs all the way through, so if it feels light and the sticker peels at a corner, that tells you plenty.
