Watched a rookie tack up a water wall header in 2 hours after 6 weeks of practice
Kid came on our crew at the Cincinnati paper mill job back in March and his first tacks looked like bird crap, cold and crooked. I told him to quit rushing the root and just watch how the puddle wets in at the edges. For 6 weeks he practiced on scrap plate every lunch break, no phone, just rod after rod. Last Tuesday he tacked up a whole water wall header section and every tack was even and clean, no grinding needed. How long did it take you guys to get your tacks consistent when you were green?
