My buddy's 4 word take on my road trip photos changed how I see them

I spent 3 hours last week editing 200 pics from my Utah trip, boosting colors and cropping every sunset. My buddy Jake glanced at my phone and said 'these look too perfect.' At first I got salty, but he meant every shot looked like a stock photo, no dust, no weird angles, no real moments. That hit different cause he's right, the ones I almost deleted, like my dog mid-yawn or a stranger laughing at a gas station, are the ones that actually stop me now. Anyone else curate their life online and forget the messy stuff is the good stuff?

Honestly, that reminds me of something I heard on a podcast about photography where the guy said the best shots are the ones you don't set up. He talked about how people's brains skip over perfect pictures because we've seen a million of them online. But a real, slightly messy moment makes you stop and go "wait, what's happening there?" I say keep the weird ones, those are the ones you'll actually want to look at in ten years.
