Last Tuesday I watched a guy hand his phone to a stranger on the L train, and I cannot get it out of my head
He just said 'hold this, I want to watch the bridge go by' and stood there for two stops with nothing in his hands. How long has it been since you did anything for 4 minutes without a screen?
The part where he just said 'hold this, I want to watch the bridge go by' is what gets me. He handed a total stranger his phone. His whole life is in that thing, bank stuff, pics, everything, and he just passed it off like it was a jacket or something. I honestly dont know if I could do that, and thats kind of sad when you think about it. Four minutes of just staring at a bridge sounds amazing but my brain would be screaming the whole time about the phone being gone. Wild that he trusted a random person on the L more than most people trust their own family.
