Vent: Spent $80 on a full series box set that had terrible audio quality

I grabbed the complete Blu-ray set of that old sci-fi show everyone raves about, and the audio mix is so bad I can barely hear dialogue over the score. Has anyone else gotten burned by a re-release like this?

$80 for a box set and they couldn't bother to check the audio mix? That's rough. I've had the same problem with a few older shows they "remastered" for Blu-ray, the sound is all over the place. Usually it's because they crammed the whole thing onto cheaper discs so the audio got compressed to hell. Check if there's a different audio track hidden in the menu, sometimes there's a 2.0 stereo mix tucked away that sounds way better than the crappy 5.1 surround they slapped on there.

Ugh tell me about it! I got burned on a remastered box set last year and was so mad. You're totally right about the hidden audio track thing though, I've saved a few discs that way. It's like they just slap together a cheap 5.1 mix and call it a day without even listening to it. These companies really need to hire someone to actually check the final product before they ship it out. It just feels disrespectful to fans who pay top dollar for this stuff. Hope you can find a workaround!
