My sister kept telling me to watch The Great British Baking Show and I kept putting it off because I figured it was just people making cakes, no real stakes. Last Saturday I threw on the first episode around 7pm while I folded three loads of laundry on the couch, and suddenly it was 1am and I was genuinely stressed about whether someone's custard would set. What got me was how kind everyone is to each other, which is the opposite of every other competition show I have seen. Your mileage may vary if you need drama to stay hooked, but I am four seasons in now. Does anyone have a similar show where the contestants actually root for each other?
