Our moving truck broke down 40 miles from the new place with all our stuff in it
We finally sold the old house in Spokane and rented a 20-foot U-Haul to get to Boise. Made it about 40 miles down I-90 when the transmission just gave out, right in the middle of a construction zone with no shoulder. My husband was driving and I was in the passenger seat doing the whole panic-checklist thing, you know, calling the rental company while he tried to edge us onto the gravel. The tow truck took 3 hours to show, and we sat there watching our entire lives strapped to the back of a broken box on wheels. Rental company ended up sending another truck and we finished the trip at 2 AM, but I still can't hear a car backfire without flinching. Has anyone else had a move where the transport itself failed, and how did you keep your sanity during the wait?
