My mom said to take the smaller pay cut for the shorter drive, and she was right
When I got two job offers after getting laid off in Phoenix, my mom told me to pick the one paying $4,000 less because it was 15 minutes from my apartment instead of 50. I ignored her and took the bigger check, then spent 2 hours a day in traffic and burned through that extra money on gas and takeout within 3 months. I quit and took the closer job 5 months later, and my mornings are way less stressful now. Has anyone else picked money over time and wished they hadn't?
