Moved 400 miles for a $2 raise 3 years ago and my brother still won't let it go
Three years ago last month I packed my Corolla and moved from Scranton to Columbus for a warehouse job that paid $2 more an hour. My brother says I ran away from a steady gig with people I knew for beer money, and honestly some weeks he's not wrong, after rent I was barely ahead the first year. But I met my wife here and I got promoted twice, so I still say the math worked out. On the other hand, my old coworker who stayed just bought his second house in Scranton, so who really won here? For anyone who moved for a small raise, would you do it again knowing the money was almost a wash?
