My buddy told me at a barbecue in Phoenix that I say 'I'm good' 15 times a day, so I started counting, and he wasn't wrong
I finally told my wife last night that the smile I wear at work every day is mostly there so nobody asks me anything real, and she just nodded and said she already knew, which somehow hurt worse than not knowing, so if you're the person holding it together for everybody else, how do you let one person actually see it?

Sounds like your wife just knows you and that's not some huge betrayal. Plenty of people smile at work to get through the day, doesn't mean you're secretly falling apart.
