My uncle told me to never trust a guy in a suit selling a used car in Fresno

He said it back in 2019, and I brushed it off until I met 'Honest Al' at a lot off Blackstone Avenue. The car, a 2012 sedan, died exactly two miles after I drove it off the lot. Anyone else have a piece of weirdly specific advice that ended up being painfully accurate?

My grandma always said never buy a watermelon from a truck parked near the highway exit in July. I thought she was just being odd, but I did it last summer. That thing was all mush and seeds inside, like it had been baking in the sun for a week. I had to throw the whole thing out. Why do the weird warnings always turn out to be true?

Did you try thumping it before you bought it?

Grandma wisdom is always so specific and weirdly right. That highway exit watermelon story is a total summer tragedy. Some lessons just have to be learned the hard way.
