My nephew called The Core a masterpiece and I almost choked on my hot dog

Last weekend my 19 year old nephew stayed over and made me watch The Core with him because he swears it is the best bad movie ever made. I kept yelling at the screen about the physics and he just kept saying "that's the point, uncle Dave," which honestly made me feel like a grumpy old man at 41. By the scene where they outrun the lava in that crystal ship thing I was laughing way harder than I want to admit. So now I am wondering, am I wrong for hating it all these years, or is he wrong for loving it? Anybody got a bad movie their kid or relative totally flipped their opinion on?
