I finally quit burying my drip lines and switched to surface runs after the July heat cooked my beds
Honestly I used to trench every drip line 6 inches down in my raised beds out back here in Tucson, thinking it looked cleaner and saved water. After last July hit 112 and I lost 4 zucchini plants anyway, I dug one line back up and found the soil around it bone dry, the water was just sinking past the roots. Now I run the tubing on top under 2 inches of mulch and just lift it when I need to check emitters. Tbh my water bill dropped about $18 a month too. Has anyone else gone back to surface lines, or am I the only one who wasted a weekend with a trenching shovel?
