Hit 200 square feet of pavers and suddenly the layout clicked

I spent three weekends fighting a herringbone pattern for a 12x16 patio in the corner of my lot, and around paver number 200 I finally saw why the border cuts kept looking off. Counting every single piece made me realize I was starting from the wrong reference line, so I ripped it up and laid the first row against the house instead. Has anyone else had a number like that where the mistake just becomes obvious mid-project?
