I thought the flap skew sensor on the CRJ was overkill, then we found chafing at 4,000 hours
I used to think the extra flap skew sensors on the CRJ were just one more thing to fail and a waste of time to test. Last week I was doing a routine check on a 200 at a hangar in Boise and found chafing on the harness right where the sensor bracket sits. The wire had rubbed through the loom and was maybe two flights from shorting out. If that sensor wasn't there, the first sign of trouble would've been a split flap on approach. I re-pinned the connector and rerouted the harness with a new standoff, took about 3 hours. Anyone else seen chafing in that spot or is it just the dry air out here?
