Honestly I never thought much about the mess on my bench until a slow Tuesday when I had zero cars in the bay and nothing to do but stare at it. Under three layers of shop rags and old gasket boxes I found a Snap-on 3/8 ratchet I swore a customer stole back in 2021, plus a whole set of wobble extensions I bought twice because I could not find them. There was also $180 in loose cash mixed into the pile, mostly tip money from jobs I forgot about, tucked in a Red Vines bag from who knows when. I grabbed a 5 gallon bucket, tossed every bolt and bracket I could not name, and filled it almost to the top. After two hours the bench was clear and I could actually lay out a timing job without moving junk to the floor first. The wildest part is my punch down time on brake jobs dropped because I was not digging through trash for the 13mm every five minutes. Has anyone else taken a full day just to purge their bench, and did you find anything that made you feel dumb for losing it?
