The pitch night at Capital Factory in 2019 that made me stop going to pitch nights
I went to a demo night at Capital Factory back in 2019, mostly for the free beer and to see what people were building. Some founder got up and spent 4 of his 5 minutes reading his own bio off a phone, never once saying what the product did. I remember sitting there thinking, if I can't tell you what you make in one sentence, I won't remember you by the time I hit the parking lot on Lavaca. These days I skip most of those events and just grab coffee with 2 or 3 founders a month instead. Way better signal, way less small talk. If you're meeting folks in the Austin scene right now, do you get more out of the big demo nights or the one on one chats?
