Switching my startup's payroll to Rippling took 8 months, was that normal?

I moved my 12 person company off a manual spreadsheet setup last March. The sales pitch said 2 weeks to full rollout, but between tax filings in Travis County and the benefits sync to BCBS, it stretched to 8 months. Half the delay was data cleanup from our old system, the other half was their support tickets bouncing around. Some folks tell me that's just how it goes with any HR platform, others say I should've hired a PEO. Did anyone else migrate something basic like payroll and have it balloon way past the estimate, or was my experience just unlucky?

Yeah that sounds about right honestly, took us forever too when we switched over.
