Serious question, a VC at a happy hour on Rainey told me to dump my old pricing page, and it took me 8 months to admit he was onto something
Back in March I was at a happy hour on Rainey and got stuck talking to this VC guy named Dev who kept asking why my pricing page had three tiers plus a "contact us" button. I told him enterprise buyers need to talk to a human and he just kind of laughed and said the button was doing nothing but burning leads. I was pretty annoyed at the time since we had been running that page for two years and closed some decent sized deals off it. Fast forward to now and we swapped the button for a $4,200 annual self serve tier that books a call automatically, and signups went from like 12 a month to 61. The weird part is the deals close faster too, because nobody gets stuck in a two week email chain with our sales guy wondering if they can afford it. What sold me was seeing the actual numbers in Stripe, not the argument itself. Now I am wondering how many other things on the site I am weirdly attached to for no real reason. Anyone else here get a random piece of advice from a stranger that took months to sink in?
