Used to drive 40 minutes to a dark field outside Tulsa, now I stack 200 shots from my own backyard
Back around 2016 I would load up my car and drive 40 minutes west of Tulsa just to get away from the city glow, and I would come home with maybe 30 usable frames if the wind behaved. Now I just set up my tripod in the backyard, run 200 shots through free stacking software while I sleep, and honestly the result is better than anything I got at that field. The weird part is I kind of miss the drive and the waiting, because sitting out there in the quiet was half the hobby for me. The suburban light pollution is still rough though, so I end up throwing out a good chunk of my frames. Does anyone else shoot from a yard and actually get something they are happy with, or am I fooling myself?
