My view of Orion changed in 2 months and I did not expect that
Last October I took a photo of the Orion Nebula from my backyard in Flagstaff and it came out as a faint smudge, just a gray blob with no color at all. Two months later I shot the same target from the same spot and the difference was wild, the nebula showed clear pink and blue and I could actually see the trapezium stars. It turned out my old edits were crushing the faint stuff, and once I learned to stack 40 shots at 30 seconds each in DeepSkyStacker the detail just showed up. Has anyone else gone back to an old photo and been shocked at what was hiding in the data?
