My uncle in Philly swore by WD-40 on a rusty brake line, that did not go well

He said just spray it and the bolt would break free, so I did that on my 1998 F-150 last Saturday and the whole line snapped off at the fitting. Cost me $140 for a tow and a new line kit from AutoZone. Anyone else ever get car advice from a relative that backfired this bad?
