Dropped my phone in a trench at a dig outside Santa Fe and the photos from week 3 are just gone
Screen was cracked anyway but the sim card and all my context shots were on there. Spent 2 hours sifting the backfill by hand with a trowel before my supervisor pulled me off it. No luck. Now I write everything in a Rite in the Rain notebook like it is 2005. Anyone else lost field data to a stupid mistake and did you find a better backup system?

Sim cards don't store photos, so those context shots were on the phone itself.
