Did I misread that dig site map for 4 years or was it really that misleading?

Back in 2019, I was volunteering on a surface survey outside Santa Fe and kept flagging the same cluster of sherds as one feature, turns out the published grid lines were shifted about 20 meters east and I'd been recording everything against the wrong datum. What tipped me off was a grad student pulling out a total station and casually checking my coordinates, suddenly my neat little scatter plot looked like it belonged in a different field entirely. Has anyone else hit that moment where you realize your baseline assumption about a site layout was just flat wrong, and did you redo the old paperwork or leave it?
