I wrote my dad 6 letters after he died in March and burned every one
The week after the funeral I sat at his kitchen table in Gary and wrote him one letter a night for 6 nights, mostly about small stuff like how he always burned the first pancake. I never mailed a single one because I kept waiting to feel like they were good enough, and now they sit in a shoebox under my sink. Does anyone here keep the unsent ones, or did you all throw them out eventually?
Kept mine in a ziplock bag in my glove box for like 2 years, which is real smart if you think about it, nothing says "I miss you dad" like your letters getting faded next to old insurance cards and a melted granola bar. Tbh I finally moved them to a drawer, mostly because my car started smelling like a mix of paper and regret. My sister threw hers out the same weekend she wrote them and she seems fine, so who knows what the right move even is. I say leave them under the sink, they are not hurting anybody down there.
