Sat in on a city council meeting about our water supply in Tucson and walked out feeling sick to my stomach
I went to the meeting just to complain about a pothole on my street. Stayed because the water guy started talking. He said the aquifer under our part of Arizona has dropped about 300 feet since the 1950s and theyre now pumping from over 1000 feet down. He held up a glass of tap water and said that water fell as rain before my grandparents were born. Nobody in the room said a word and I just sat there doing the math on my own sprinklers. I dont have a fix for this one. Mostly I just want to know how other folks in dry places are coping with it. Do you still water a yard? Do you think about moving? What actually helps you sleep at night?
