Why does nobody mention the library card that saved me $120 on maps for my Roman Empire map wall
So I got into those big fold-out wall maps of the Roman Empire at its peak. The kind with every road and legion post. I figured I'd need to buy a bunch of fancy reference atlases, like $120 worth on eBay. A retired history teacher at my local library branch in Dayton looked at my list and said, "Honey, check the drawer." There's a whole cabinet of old atlases you can check out for free, including a 1968 copy of the Barrington Atlas. That cabinet drawer convinced me. Now my map wall has road routes I never would've thought of. What's the weirdest free resource that beat something you were about to buy?
