The Spotify shuffle that made me give up my custom playlist order
I spent months curating a perfect flow for my running mix in Chicago, but last week the algorithm threw in a random 90s country track after a death metal song and it somehow worked. Has anyone else found that letting the machine pick beats your own sequencing, or is that just Stockholm syndrome?

Funny enough, I had the same thing happen with my road trip playlist down to Texas last month... I had this careful order of fast songs for the highway and slower ones for when I needed a breather. Then the shuffle threw in a weird folk ballad right in the middle of a punk stretch, and it actually broke up the monotony in a good way. Now I just hit shuffle and let it do its thing, even if it feels like giving up control... my own sequencing never surprised me anymore, and that's kind of the point. The machine doesn't care about my perfect order, so it finds these little gaps I never would have thought to fill. It's a bit like trusting a stranger to cook for you, sometimes you get a burnt dish, but sometimes you find your new favorite meal.
