That Wednesday where everything that could break, broke

Had a 2007 Cessna 172 come in for a routine oil change and ended up chasing an electrical gremlin for 6 hours. The master relay was intermittent, then the alternator belt shredded right as I was buttoning it up, and to top it off the nose gear tire was showing cord. I told the owner it would be a $400 quick stop and by the end of the day it was a $1,800 invoice with three separate write-ups. Has anyone else had a simple job snowball like that where you almost second-guess quoting the easy stuff?

Lord, that's why I always pad my quotes for old planes.
