A 30 year master tech told me to stop using safety wire pliers so much
I used to twist every safety wire by hand because I thought pliers were cheating. This old timer watched me struggle on a fuel pump and said 'son, you're wasting time, not earning points'. He showed me his method of doing two twists then letting the pliers finish it. Took me about a week to get the feel but my installs got way faster and cleaner. Anyone else pick up a basic habit change that made a huge difference on the line?

Buddy of mine, Ron, used to rebuild alternators by hand and always fought with his torque wrench on the little nut. Spent twenty minutes cussing it out. One day a guy from the shop next door told him to just spin it on with a socket and feel it out, like really feel it, not count clicks. Ron laughed but tried it on his own truck that weekend. Now he won't touch the torque wrench for anything under 15 foot pounds, and his rebuilds hold up just fine. Funny how the fastest way is usually the simplest one, right?
