Can we talk about spending $400 on a robot vacuum that barely works

I bought a mid-range robot vacuum six months ago thinking it would save me time sweeping every day. Instead it gets stuck under the couch twice a week and missed a pile of crumbs right in the open last Tuesday. Has anyone else dropped serious cash on a cleaning gadget that just made things more frustrating?

and yeah I dropped 350 on one of those and now it just lives under my couch like a really expensive dust bunny. honestly I think the thing has a personal vendetta against me cause it'll clean the cat's water bowl area perfectly but somehow miss the entire kitchen floor. the real joke is I spent more time rescuing it from furniture than I ever did just grabbing a broom.

Used to think robot vacuums were just a gimmick for lazy people... then my wife bought one and I actually started liking it. But your experience sounds exactly like what I was afraid of. Our Roomba worked great for about two months before it started bumping into everything and leaving big patches of dirt behind. Ended up having to manually sweep the high-traffic areas anyway, which kind of defeats the whole point. That $400 could have bought a really nice cordless stick vacuum that actually cleans.
